Hi, I’m Tory!

It’s nice to meet you! I grew up as an Army Brat, moving back and forth from North Carolina, Louisiana, and Texas. My family is rooted in San Antonio, Texas which is what I consider my hometown. I went to Texas Tech to complete my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I have a passion for encouraging people (adults and children, alike) to have a love for learning. After graduating, I started teaching elementary students in Lubbock while starting my Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. Once I graduated, I had/have the opportunity to work in the corporate learning and development realm.

I became a mama in November 2019 and decided that I want to do more with my skills, time, and money to make an impact on my community. I started @hords_at_home on instagram in February 2020 right before the world dove head first into virtual learning. Through that platform and starting this blog, I am able to teach others how to complete budget friendly DIY projects from home improvement, home decor, crafts, and more! I also love sharing some of the products and experiences that my family and I use along with honest reviews to help other women and families!
